High School Dual Diploma Project Introduction

Nova Scotia(NS) located in the east of Canada, surrounded by the scenic Atlantic coast, near to the province of New Brunswick. Most of the province are forests and lakes, it is a safe and quiet province that very suitable for studying and learning. Nova Scotia covers an area of ​​53,000 square kilometers. The famous international port city of Halifax is its provincial capital. Nova Scotia is famous for its rich academic atmosphere and excellent quality of education. There are 450 public primary and secondary schools, 10 universities and colleges among NS.  According to the approval of the Ministry of Education of NOVA SCOTIA, Chinese students will have a dual high school diploma in Canada and China through the three-year study of Canadian and Chinese basic high school courses.

 

Management Mode

China and Canada are jointly responsible for the management of the project. Both Chinese department and Canadian department will select a senior educator respectively, to participate in the development of curriculum and curriculum management. From Chinese department, the educator will select qualified teachers and experienced managers to responsible for the Chinese high school teaching and student management; while from Canadian department, they will responsible for the Canadian high school curriculum setting, teaching, and managing. The qualified teachers from Canadian department, are selected, recommended, sent and evaluated by the Ministry of Education of Nova Scotia, Canada. All kinds of teaching facilities, studying environment condition and student managements etc. are match the standard of both Chinese education sector and Canadian education sector.

 

The Goals of the Project

When students graduate from this project, they should meet the requirements as their Canadian peers in their English skill, writing ability, global awareness, comprehensive understanding, critical thinking, creativities, and self-care ability. This will help students to develop a solid foundation in the field of high technology and business. The direction where students can go after this project:

  • Complete the Canadian course, to participate in an exam of the province of Nova Scotia (NS province Ministry of Education sent officials to bring papers to China organization), access to a high school diploma program is the same as the local students of the NS Ministry of Education; as well as access to Chinese high school diploma program and get the certificated.
  • According to the three-year Canadian high school studying, students can get a free matriculation, free language requirement that can directly apply to Canada and other Commonwealth countries outstanding universities.
  • Students can base on their English IELTS, TOEFL score or Canadian high school scores (without participating in the domestic college entrance examination), into the State Department of Education approved by the State Council Office of Sino-foreign cooperative education undergraduate study. Teaching language

The Chinese course will teach in Chinese while Canadian course will teach by Canadian qualified teachers who selected by the Ministry of Education of the Nova Scotia, with an excellent teaching experience. We will teach students all in English and implement an "All English Environment" education to enable students Accept the same quality of education as Canadian high school.

Academic credits

Three-year Study system: 9 Canadian courses with a total credit of 14, Chinese language courses (from grade 10 to grade 12) will be counted as 3 credits, sports and computer in grade 10 will have 0.5 credit each. In the end, students will graduate with a total credit of 18.

 

Facility Equipment

  • Textbooks of Canadian Courses are NOVA SCOTIA province Ministry of Education original textbooks, it is the same as the local high school students use for classes.
  • The textbook of Chinese courses will use the high school teaching materials that compiled by Chinese Ministry of Education, there are three subjects which include Chinese, mathematics, and English. There will have some bilingual science teachers who can teach in Chinese and English, to help students to adapt Science learning in English.
  • Chinese teachers will provide courses outline and in class handouts to assistant students to understand the learning subjects.
  • Multimedia-assisted teaching: to provide students with advanced international computer-aided learning and online education system to meet the needs of the latest curriculum development at home and abroad. The school's computer network is directly connected with the Canadian education department, conducting distance learning tests, school management and so on
  • Comprehensive quality courses: school curriculum set up both China and Canada high school teaching standards, highlighting the cultivation of students' ability to learn English, critical thinking, and social practical experience, to ensure that graduates can quickly integrate into Western social learning and work.   • Students get a free "preparatory" and directly apply to an oversea university

The Canadian high school diploma certificate recognized by the Canadian Ministry of Education of Canada. According to the Canadian Overseas Education Act, students from the Sino-Canadian International Class are eligible to apply for any Canadian university with the certificate and credits. Graduates do not have to apply like the general Chinese high school graduates who must go through a year abroad "preparatory" study, but they can apply directly to Canada or other English-speaking country’s university. This kind of foreign education system allows our high school graduates can be the same as the Canadian high school graduates to complete their first critical choice of their life in a relaxed and natural state: with the Canadian registration number and grade 11 or grade 12 transcripts, students can apply directly to their dream university.

Overseas universities do not organize a unified entrance examination, but take students’ each subjects grade in grade 11 and grade 12 seriously, as well as check students’ overall performance in their high school. In the Canadian University education system, it does not have an entrance examination, but it will view students’ last 2 years transcript to decide to accept the students or not. In general, students who have a C+ and above grade level, they can get into a university. If students who have an overall B grade level, they can almost get into any college or universities.

Teaching Objectives

Master about 6,000 words, the basic understanding of Europe and the United States country in listening and speaking. Understand most of the content of foreign teachers and able to have a simple communication with these teachers.
